Visa Fraudulent Emails
Austin Telco has been notified that some members have received fraudulent emails claiming to be from Visa. The emails state that your card has been used overseas, and ask that you click on a link to fill out a form which asks for your card number, expiration date, and other sensitive pieces of information. This is an attempt to steal your identity. While Austin Telco does subscribe to Visa Fraud Protection services, they will only contact you by phone, not by email or the web.Â
If Visa Fraud Protection does call you, they will already know your card number of course, and they will ask you to identify yourself by your zip code and part of your Social Security Number, never the complete Social Security Number. Please contact the Administrative Office with concerns at 512.302.5555 x7000.Â
